THE LAMIN PROJECT
Meet Lamin – The Heart of the Lamin Project
Lamin is a young Hafiz of the Qur’an from a humble village in Gambia. Despite being raised in one of the poorest local communities, Lamin has devoted his life to memorizing and preserving the Qur’an, with a dream to become a teacher who can uplift those around him.
In Lamin’s community, daily life is a struggle. Families survive mostly on rice, with little to no meat or variety in their meals. Some days, many go without food altogether. An experience that has become far too common and painfully normal.
Yet, in the face of these hardships, Lamin stands as a symbol of resilience and hope..
His greatest wish is to pass on the knowledge of the Qur’an to children who would otherwise grow up without access to proper Islamic education.
If you wish to donate to Lamin or the Lamin Project, please contact him directly on WhatsApp using the button below. DO NOT use the Five Pillars donation tab.
All support must go straight to him and his community.
Your sadaqah goes directly to Lamin, helping him feed and support his people for the sake of Allah.
He teaches children under the shade of trees or in simple makeshift classrooms, often using only wooden boards and chalk. With limited resources but an unshakable faith, Lamin’s goal is not only to provide Qur’anic education but also to instill values of discipline, patience, and hope for a better future.
The Lamin Project was created to support him and through him, to support an entire community. With your help, Lamin can have access to the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to break the cycle of poverty, empower the youth, and ensure that the words of the Qur’an continue to illuminate even the most remote corners of The Gambia
